We believe you should have the right to know a little bit about the people who will be entering your home or business.  What is their background and credentials?  Why should I trust that they will serve me well?  What kind of reputaion do they have?

Michael Kelly (Kelly) has been cleaning carpeting, upholstery and fine rugs since 1968.  He was one of the first "steam cleaners" and one of the first IICRC Certified Master Textile cleaners in the United States.  He began his career in Milwaukee, WI where he quickly rose to the position of operations manager. Kelly was instrumental in creating some of the largest and most reputable carpet cleaning establishments in the upper Midwest, including Sears Carpet Care, Holiday Quality Services and Adelmans.  He has trained over 1000 carpet cleaning technicians in his career.  He has continued to mentor hundreds of cleaning professionals throughout America.  His skill, knowledge and love of cleaning correctly are second to none in America!

Ruth Jaenchen is co-owner of A Better Carpet Cleaner & Summit Carpet Care.  Ruth has performed administrative assistant duties for nearly 20 years and entered the carpet cleaning field in 2003.  She handles incoming calls, scheduling, invoices, data entry and about 50 other tasks!  She earned her IICRC Carpet Cleaner Technician certification in 2007. Ruth helps guide both clients and prospective clients in their service decisions and enjoys sharing and listening to the concerns and issues of our clients.  And Oh, she is also my wonderful wife!

Stephen Jaenchen is the founder and owner of A Better Carpet Cleaner & Summit Carpet Care.  He began his carpet cleaning career in 1984 at Holiday Quality Services in Milwaukee, WI and worked under the tutelage of none other than Michael Kelly!  Stephen began his own carpet cleaning company in 1986 and used it to help put him through college at Bethel College in St. Paul, MN where he earned his BA in Psychology.  He continued cleaning in Minneapolis for 10 years after which he moved to Santa Barbara.  Stephen worked as operations manager for Star Rug Cleaners, Santa Barbara's only fine rug cleaning plant.  He also worked as a lead cleaning technician for Del Bonis Carpet Care and as operations manager for Servicemaster.  While there, Stephen often cleaned for famous individuals like Carol Burnett, Paul Hogan, John Cleese, Robert Zimeckis and Jeana Davis.  He moved to Carson City with Ruth in 2001, and after working for Summit Carpet Care as operations manager, began A Better Carpet Cleaner in 2003.  He purchased Summit Carpet Care in 2004.  Stephen has worked to improve the level of service to our clients through ongoing education for all our staff and by improving the chemicals, equipment and procedures we use.
